FAIR ANNOUNCEMENT
Tuesday, 15 July 2008
Attn: Waukesha County 4-H Horse and Horseless Project Members, Parents and Leaders:

I am sure that all of you are hard at work putting those finishing touches on fair projects . . .

I just have a few quick important announcements before Wednesday, Fair ingress day . . .

Please make sure that all horses are on the Expo grounds and checked in by 6PM ON WEDNESDAY EVENING.  NO EXCEPTIONS! Coggins check in is between 4pm and 6pm.

THERE IS A BRIEF, MANDATORY "FAIR ORIENTATION" YOUTH MEETING for ALL 4-H horse exhibitors on Wednesday evening at 6:30pm.  Horse project exhibitors are asked to meet at the bleachers at the south side of the west ring.  Important info about Fair and the 2008 State 4-H Expo will be communicated.

The Youth Horse Judging Class (conformation and pleasure classes) will be held on THURSDAY (7/17/08) afternoon from 3pm to 5pm.  It WILL NOT be held on Friday night as was in past years. This change was made to the the horse project event schedule, however, the change is not reflected in the Fair book.  We apologize for any confusion this may cause, however, we were able to get a carded/certified judge for Thursday afternoon. We hope that by not having the judging the evening before the English show, exhibitors will have ample time to prepare their animals, as well as to not have a conflict with the Livestock Auction as was the case for those horse exhibitors that also show other species and are required to participate in the annual Auction.

Good luck to everyone and see you on Wednesday!

Equine Ambassador & Equine Represenative

Congratutlations to ABIGAIL REIKOWSKI of the Washington 4-H Club selected as our 2008 WC4-HHA Equine Ambassador

Congratulations to KATELIN CONDON of Moriah/Ottawa 4-H Horse project selected as the 2008 WC4-HHA Equine Representative

Both young ladies will do a great job representing our horse project and promoting the efforts of our organization throughout the year.  Both of these young ladies serve as youth board members as well.

Thank you to the interview judges that donated their time to conduct the interviews this evening.  The judges were Jim Wilde of Ryan International Airlines, Robert Winter of Futura International Airways and Patricia Phillips of Silver Oaks Trailer Sales.  The judges were extremely impressed with the talent and maturity demonstrated by both finalists and the final selection process was closely contended.

Be sure to congratulate Abigail and Katelin the next time you see them.  The crowning/sashing will take place at the 2008 Waukesha County Fair.

Congratulations & Thank You

The 2008 Waukesha County 4-H Circuit Show season has concluded! At this time all riders should be registered for their riding events at the Waukesha County Fair. Please work with your individual Horse Project leaders and co-members to coordinate county fair preparation.

We consider this to have been a very successful circuit show season. Thank you to all who volunteered and helped to run the shows.

Continue to watch this site for Waukesha County Fair announcements and links to relevant information. And please sign up for volunteer duties for the fair. A volunteer spreadsheet for Waukesha County Fair is posted. Please This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it   with your assignment requests.

Thank you to all who signed up at the last circuit show.

Mark your calendars for the August 10th Open show at the Expo with judge Sheri Light. We will also be looking for volunteers to help out with the open show. Please This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it   with your assignment requests.

This is our only other fund raiser besides the tack sale, so make plans to come out and support the county project! Involvement at the August 10th show counts towards 2008-2009 project year clinic requirements!

Athleticism of the Equestrian & the Equine Athlete
Saturday, 21 June 2008

The importance of treating yourself and your horse as athletes!

HorseGirl, Angelea, meets with two time Cosequin Juniors Team and two time Young Rider Team competitor and FEI rider as well as a long time athletic trainer, to talk about the athleticism of the equestrian and the equine athlete.

We all have personal trainers, right??? Even if you don't, your physical conditioning is just as important as that of your horse.
